I’ve helped dentists with dentist-specific AI note-taking products, and I’ve found that the underlying models are already surprisingly capable.\n\n But I don't think that means a dentist should necessarily just use Claude or ChatGPT directly. If you want high accuracy and consistency, dental-specific terminology and templates, and tighter integration with the way a practice actually documents visits, a specialized scribe can add a lot of value.\n\n Directly using Claude or ChatGPT can still mean dealing with mistakes, missed dental context, and having to repeatedly correct the same things. A well-built dental scribe can put a lot of that context around the model and make the experience much more predictable.\n\nIn fact, with the dentists I’ve worked with, I’ve seen **close to 99% retention** for a good product once it becomes part of their daily documentation workflow. At that point, the value isn't really which AI model is underneath. I am astonished at how well it can accurately and concisely summarize things that were discussed during visits. That said, it isn't convenient. You have to upload it and it runs the AI based on your templated instructions. Then you copy paste edit into your PMS.
