Never personally used the blue ones, but I took the  top end off of a later year shovel last year and it had blue Teflon gaskets and everything was solid. A lot of older wrenches from the older years SWEAR by those copper gaskets. I’d probably listen if your buddy is talking about them!\n\nI ended using straight paper gaskets with silver spray paint on my leaky bike mentioned. No particular reason other than it was what I had on hand at the time. The paint trick was something from a real old issue of easyriders in their “tips and tricks” section. Seemed kind of silly at the time, but have heard about it from a few other people over the years.
