Most that offer a \"Free Tier\" simply have a (Malware and Advertising) version of their DNS (Control D, Cloudflare, etc). Not that they're necessarily bad, but you can't choose blocklists and definitely not all the extra Privacy and Performance features that NextDNS has. Adguard is one that is very similar to NextDNS and both have the 300,000 query cap which I've never come near passing in a month. Had it when I initially purchased NextDNS until I got blocked with no explanation...\n\nGoing back through that I am now able to tracert/ping the IP's that I previously couldn't... This is making use of a loophole, because what’s happening here is that nextdns is routing the traffic to Albania, and sending it back to the user, the issue here is that most users are not from that country and this might be a violation of Google’s ToS. These new AI features are great and all but the actual console needs some QOL improvements.\n\nFor example, I’d like to be able to filter logs by which blocklist or feature actually took the action which would aid in troubleshooting using these new settings. Since some of these new settings come with false positives, it’s difficult to know exactly what feature is the culprit when things stop working. Plus it would also be useful to get some metrics on questions like “What domains were blocked by the Newly Active Domains feature?” and so on.\n\nCurrently the only workaround is to export the CSV and mess around with it in Excel but that shouldn’t be necessary if we could have some basic log search and filter functions, and the analytics tab is not nearly granular enough to get this info either.
