I used to step over piles of needles on a weekly basis, see people shit on the street, been spit at, walked by junkies who nod off on street corners daily and had female friends harassed regularly around the park. There was violent crime in that area and semi-regular fires. There is much less of all that now.\n\nAll that said, we moved to Ballard from Cap Hill years ago, and enjoyed it more than living on the hill. Good food, lots to do but a generally quieter neighborhood.  If I was single in my mid 20s I might prefer the scene on Cap Hill, though.","can_gild":true,"collapsed":false,"collapsed_because_crowd_control":null,"collapsed_reason":null,"collapsed_reason_code":null,"comment_type":null,"controversiality":0,"created_utc":1656811184,"distinguished":null,"edited":false,"gilded":0,"gildings":{},"id":"ien90qv","is_submitter":false,"link_id":"t3_vq1x2m","locked":false,"name":"t1_ien90qv","no_follow":false,"parent_id":"t3_vq1x2m","permalink":"/r/SeattleWA/comments/vq1x2m/ballard_v_capitol_hill/ien90qv/","retrieved_on":1659950861,"score":5,"score_hidden":false,"send_replies":true,"stickied":false,"subreddit":"SeattleWA","subreddit_id":"t5_2vbli","subreddit_name_prefixed":"r/SeattleWA","subreddit_type":"public","top_awarded_type":null,"total_awards_received":0,"treatment_tags":[],"unrepliable_reason":null,"ups":5}]}
