Baker for the last two years and are currently about to resign our lease for a third. It's not going to be as nice as a place as beacon hill, but rent is signifigantly cheaper and Beacon hill is a 10 minute stroll away. I live about 5 minutes away from the lightrail station and it's amazing. It's a great neighborhood, super accessible via light rail and busses, there's multiple grocery stores within walking distance, tons and tons of public parks in walking distance to. Living next to the lightrail station is a godsend, super easy to get back to/from downtown and beyond and the direct line to SeaTac is to die for, last time it only took 40 minutes to get home from my plane touching down! (including de-boarding!) \n\nAnd don't listen to people on here about the lightrail / busses. My partner and I have been using them for the last 2 years as our only form of transportation and both have never had any issues with people beyond the usual scummy catcalls\n\nAlso as a woman, Rainier Avenue can get a bit sketch at night but immediately gets better if you go even a block away. I constantly go for walks at night alone, up to 3am, and feel pretty safe. It helps there's a lot of schools around, and wealthy neighborhoods on top of the hills. \n\nThere's several large apartment buildings about to be finished which probably explains why rent is cheaper here to.\n\nTry to find one that doesn't face Rainier ave.
