I walk a large and a small dog in LQA and feel perfectly safe.  I prefer LQA, since you are close to everything and it is so easy to walk.  Both areas have homeless and property theft issues, so don't let anyone lead you to believe that Wallingford/Fremont is a crime free mecca.  I would be alert and ready in either area, especially if you are walking alone at night.   \n\nI believe someone already mentioned this, but if you want a small town neighborhood/mom and pop vibe (much older crowd here), Wallingford meets that criteria.  It would require a little more effort with the bus to get to Amazon from Wallingford.\n\nFremont, is somewhat of a combo of LQA and Wallingford.  It's a very cute little area with lots of restaurants, bars, and parks with a much younger populous than Wallingford.  A very easy bus ride to Amazon campuses.  \n\nIf you are more interested in midtown/downtown (museums, city parks, restaurants, bars, etc.), then LQA.  Also an easy walk or bus ride to the campus.\n\nThere are lots of green spaces in both areas.  LQA is close to Seattle Center, Lake Union Park and Centennial Park.  Wallingford/Fremont is near Green Lake, Gas Works and Meridian.  There are few other small parks/green spaces near both Wallingford/Fremont and LQA, just check google.  \n\nGood luck!
