The choice really comes down to whether you like quiet, tree-lined streets with single family homes or a more bustling, more urban setting. If the former, Wallingford is a better bet (though there are quiet, pretty neighborhoods in QA, you're going to have to climb to get to them). Lower Queen Anne has some neat spots nearby (waterfront parks, Seattle Center, easy access to downtown and Capitol Hill), but I'm not sure I'd be pumped to walk a dog around there at night. You'll be fine, it just lacks warmth.\n\nAs an old person, I quite like wandering around Wallingford and Fremont. I like the canal, Gasworks Park, the Burke-Gilman trail. It's right at the center of the Ballard-UW axis, which contains some great restaurants. But it is a little sleepier, for sure. \n\nReally, you'll be fine with either choice.
